Sampler Mania Week 1

Before I started Stitch/Sampler Maynia, I was working on Martha Pudsey.  The photo below shows where I ended up with her.  I typically do not stitch the entire border at once but I got into a rhythm with her and just kept going.  The photo below is not good but you get the idea!
May1st was the first Friday in my Sampler Maynia and I chose to start Sally Stansfield.  See the left border, I stitched that 3 times because I can't count and because Sally decided to add an extra stitch into an otherwise consistent border.  I also had most of the vase in but the third time I started it, I decided it would be a better idea to start in a different place.  I'm stitching her on 40 count Weeks on Zweigart Straw linen with the called for AVAS.
That's it for week 1!  I hope all your stitches are happy ones!

Those borders are beautiful and you must have been relieved when Martha met up! They are going to both be gorgeous!

Hi Jackie, I admired your work it's pretty. I taught myself to cross stitch 25 years ago. After I completed my first piece I put it away until, last fall. I started watching cross stitch videos on Yo Tube, OMG! the cross stitch world change so much.

Last Xmas I stitch cross stitch ornaments as a way to slowly get back into the craft. Of course I stitch on Aida 11 count and I was satisfied. This year I decided to participate in Mania 2020 and I am stitching Halloween ornaments. I'm learning about the different brands and quality of Aida cloth and the quality of threads. I just purchase my first pieces of Zweigart Aida 11-count.

Big difference in the quality and weave is much better than anything Joanns sell or AC Moore. Before COVID-19 I purchase several pieces of Aida 11 and 14 count from Hobby Lobby and when I compared it to Zweigart I must say that Hobby Lobby brand is comparable.

I don't know if I will ever stitch on other fabrics, because my eyes gives me trouble even with a magnifier.

Martha P is looking good. I really like her colors. Your progress on Sally S is lovely. Too bad Sally's borders gave you grief! I would blame Sally! LOL Have a good weekend, Jackie!

Both pieces are looking good. I feel your pain with the frogging and restarts. Good for you for persisting!
