The winners of the pattern giveaway from my last post are Barb and Susan! I'll send an email to each of you and hopefully get the patterns in the mail this week. Please visit their blogs, they are each so talented. Congratulations to you both!
Yesterday, we went downtown to see the fireworks. It's always so hot here but it's on the river and there is always a bit of a cool breeze. Jacob and his girlfriend went with us and we really enjoyed their company. I really like his girlfriend a lot and I know he's crazy about her too.

It was overcast but it didn't rain on us thankfully. We had a great time!
The pictures with fireworks didn't come out so I'll spare you those.
I think it was because of the bad weather but there weren't a lot of boats out.

I'm still puttering around working on my Stitchers Gardens blocks. Next weekend is another class and I needed to get my background ready to go. We're quilting the background using a decorative wavy stitch using a twin needle. I really like the way this looks and the twin needle was not the pain in the rear I expected it to be.
The flowers were supposed to have DMC corded on around the center of the flower. I didn't like it so I took it out of the one I had completed.
I worked on something else this weekend but I got close to being ready to quilt it and realized I didn't have backing fabric. I'm going to save that for another post once I get it completed.
Today was an interesting day. I couldn't find my camera - the one I always have in my purse. My phone stopped working. Greg pulled down one of the shelves in my sewing room by accident. The day started off rough. My phone is now working (who knew it could be reset by pushing 2 buttons at the same time). The shelf has been fixed and Greg installed a light under the same shelf. The camera is still AWOL though. The weird thing is that I think I put it somewhere with the idea it would be easy to find later. Clearly a bad move. It was still a great day - I'd certainly vote to have 3 day weekends every week!
I hope you had a happy and safe holiday. Happy Stitches!

Doing the winners dance....whohoooo
Your work looks amazing.
What a lovely post! I am still wondering what the white block is. I must have missed something.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks to put something somewhere very clever and then not being able to find it.
I am still looking for my watch I put somewhere for no one to find when we went to the States. I thought it was a clever place. I guess it is, because I have still not found it /o:
Each time you show one of the flower blocks I think it's my favourite!
I love the effect you got from the twin needle stitching. It's going to make an interesting background.
A cloudy day may have been a blessing... probably made it tad cooler. Looks like a great place to spend the 4th.
Love your flower block!
LOL..Jackie..your camera is with my camera battery charger..lol. I still have not found mine. Good ting I bought another one. It is so frustrating when you can almost see..where you have put it..and it is not there.
Great pictures. Sure is nice to have some family time.
Great looking project. Like the colors.
Judi B...warm here as well.Ugh!
Hi Jackie,
Looks like you had a fun 4th. :) Your quilting projects look fabulous. Hope your camera turns up soon. Whenever I put something away thinking it will be easy to find later, it always ends up being difficult. LOL!
the twin needle quilting looks amazing! I've been afraid to try my twin needle....
I love how that quilting with the twin needles came out. So cool! Glad you all had fun at the fireworks. Ugh on the shelf, cell phone and camera! I wonder what happened to the camera. I do that all the time -- put something somewhere thinking it's a great place to put it, then can't find it. I've discovered it's always better to leave the thing where I know it always is and not find a new place. lol! Hope you find it soon!
Jackie - your block is just beautiful - I LOVE the gold backround (you know the aged sampler looking backround LOL)You are doing a marvelous job with this project. Your son is so cute with his girlfriend and the views of downtown before the fireworks look great ! Good for you - a short week - mel
A beautiful quilt block just like all the others!
The picture of the water is heavenly, and the one of Jacob and his girlfriend is beautiful! She has a great smile!
I love that wavy background too cool!
Lovely block you finished up!
Every time I see a new block pop up and those stitches you're doing I'm green with envy. I really need to take the time and relearn everything about my machine again. I've been stuck in the rut of straight stitching too long!
What a lovely flower block, Jackie. You sure doing great with the blocks.
Congrats to the winners!
Oh boy...I'm so excited! I can hardly wait to start stitching nap mats! Thanks Jackie!
I hope you find your camera!! I always do that--lose where that safe place is. Oy. Looks like you had a fantastic weekend. :) I love the blocks!
The block is so pretty - just love the colors you chose and the fun look of it. You are doing great with your quilting!
Looks like you had the kind of weekend you were hoping for, Jackie! I love the twin needle backing - and the appliqued flowers are adorable! What number stitch did you use around the outside of the red flower?
Cheers!
Nice to read you had a beautiful weekend. It's always a bonus to spend some time with adult children. I got to spend a little time on Sunday with my oldest dd (27yo). Was lovely.
Your block is beautiful. Love all the interesting stitches you're using with your machine. Look forward to seeing more.
Lovely stitching - beautiful work!
Oooooh! I'll put in a vote for three day weekends all the time! It was wonderful having hubby home on Monday. Even if he did think 99 degrees and humid was a great excuse for yard work.... :o)
Congrats to the winners! I lvoe your block! By the way, your son's girlfriend is so sweet...I can see how much in love they are.

Hi Jackie, I love the stitching with your twin needle, it looks so fab!
Sounds like the fireworks turned out great - they are so hard to capture with a camera in the dark :(
I always think of the best places to keep things...one day I'll think about how good it was when I find them
