It's time for the Theme-a-Lious February wrap up. Let's revisit this months theme first:
Figural February
Who are the people in your neighborhood...your WIP neighborhood, that is? Give your people-populated projects some face time this month.
Since I didn't work on any WIPs in February (I think I'm in a slump), I'm going to put my own twist on this month's theme. The people in my EGA neighborhood are working on our Chapter SAL. I hadn't started yet so I decided it was time to pick it up and join in. This is Toccata I from The Drawn Thread. I don't mind a speciality stitch every great once in a while but this project is FULL of them. A little, no a lot, outside my comfort zone...which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I love to learn new things - at least that's what I keep telling myself! Wishing you all happy stitches this week!
Apologies for the iPhone photo

This is a lovely project: yes, it has oodles of special stitches, but each little motif is a small finish, and you're never working with the same stitch for too long - I loved stitching this chart. You have a lovely-looking start, enjoy.
It's gorgeous, Jackie! You have a great start. It'll be a nice change, and it has nice little motifs to work with too. A motif is a finish, right?
It is beautiful!!
At least it won't get boring! It looks great so far.
It's just beautiful. And good for you trying something not in your comfort zone, that's often times hard to do. Can't wait to see it when it's done!!
You're off to a great start. It's a beautiful piece.
Those specialty stitches look great. Beautiful project.
Always loved this pattern. Nice progress!
its gorgeous this pattern and its only in small doses so you are not faced with massive bits of speciality stitches sooo you can do a bit each day and see lots of progress :) love mouse xxxxxx
Oh Jackie it is beautiful. Those special stitches really do give the sampler sooo much texture - wow. You got a lot done. Lovely job Jackie:)
love Annette
That looks like a fun project to me. Your work is beautiful, so I think these stitches are really suited to you!
I just love this, Jackie--you're doing a great job on all those specialty stitches. I think that is one of the things I love about The Drawn Thread--they do push you beyond the basic "X" and the result is a wonderful look :)
Yes, it is full of specialty stitches, but WOW! So pretty.
What a pretty project! I am drawn to Drawn Thread designs even though I think I've only actually done one. The specialty threads really add a whole new look to the piece and on this one, each little square would be a happy dance!
A beautiful design and you've made a very good start!!
Happy weekend!
Hang in there with Toccata, Jackie! It's a lovely piece and you'll feel very proud when it's done.
I really like doing a piece with little speciality stitched motifs now and again. It is good to learn new things you get such a good feeling when they have been mastered.
Have fun Jackie and looking forward to seeing more photos
You are doing wonderfully with that - looks lovely!
Beautiful work! It looks like a very fun project too.
Looking good! You're about a row ahead of me. I nominate you for "best justification of theme" this month. :)
It's looking great Jackie -I love doing specialty stitches but they do take longer. This is a wonderful piece!
Very nice!
I get a kick out of doing all the different specialty stitches. Reminds me a little of when I was kid and my mother taught me how to do embroidery. (Which she still does.) I was a pro at the lazy daisies and satin stitch by age 10 or so.
It's looking gorgeous.
I have this one kitted up in my stash and every time I see someones wip I want to start it.
I love how you used the theme for February! You're doing a fantastic job on the DT piece. Glad you joined in even if it's outside your comfort zone.
This is really beautiful stitching and I love the one with the bargello stitches too. Drawn Thread is such a wonderful designer. Your fabric looks really tight. What kind of frame are you using?
