Keeping It Simple

Last year, I set goals for specific things I wanted to accomplish. In my year end recap, I found that for me, I did pretty good. I hesitate to say, however, that having a goal list was the driver of what I accomplished in 2011. So for 2012, I'm keeping it simple:

Use My Stash

Don't misunderstand - this is not a "no buy" goal. For some of you, that may be realistic - for me it is not at all. But I do have some wonderful fibers for stitching, knitting, and quilting in my stash that I'd like to use.

In that vein, today I'm starting the wonderful Ann Dale sampler. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it on Theresa's blog when she received the original sampler she had purchased. I think there are 8 of us in our Sampler Guild stitching this one. I wouldn't call it a stitch along, more like a start a long!

And funny enough, she is coming out of my stash! Since the kit arrived two days ago (way back in 2011) it's officially stash. :)
Fiber and Floss for Ann Dale
40 Count Lakeside Linen Vintage Pear (a muddy green)
Assorted Silks

This is also my Themalicious Project for January along with AotH.

I'm going to enjoy following your progress on Ann Dale. So far I've resisted her... but who knows how long I'll hold out.

I need to make a bigger dent in my stash, too. I actually did pretty well with that in 2011 and need to continue with that. What is this Thermalicious thing?

Yep, this definitely counts as using your stash. I think that's an excellent goal for 2012. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on the Ann Dale, I love the colors you chose.

I love your way of thinking - if it's in the house by January 1st - it's stash!! Those colors look luscious and I can't wait to see your start. She's one that I want to purchase when I eliminate a couple WIPs. I've designated 2012 as the year of WIPs too (you should have seen all the shopping I did before the end of the year! ) LOL

I'm with you Jackie! I would love to try to use from my stash; that said, if it takes too much patience to figure out a conversion, I'll be yanking out the ole cc or dropping in on PayPal. lol. I received that sampler chart for Christmas. It's beautiful, but I have so many things ahead of it..like BBD Christmas Garden. Happy New Year, J!

I am in tune with you Jackie, in fact after reading your post I decide to post an end of the year post and 2012 goal. I intend to use more of my stash this year in fact I haven't bought any fabrics since July 2011 and for me that is a great acomplishment. I love the sampler.

Using your stash - a great plan for the new year. I'm going to use the same motto as you for this year. I found it worked so well last year and it's always a lot of fun going through your stash and find all these hidden treasures.
What a great new start you have chosen, it's such a wonderful sampler. Have a great new stitching and quilting year!

And what yummy stash you have! I have been working from stash for a number of years now and it becomes easier and easier to keep at it as you go.

You have had an amazing year and made so many beautiful things. It has been my joy to be able to stop by to visit and see them.

That sounds like a good do-able goal to me :) I could never stop buying fabric, it just makes me too darn happy. I've been looking through your blog. You make some beautiful things. You've probably already hear of this place, but do your ever buy stuff from the Shepherds Bush - oh I love that store. Have fun watching Downton Abbey tonight - I can't wait.

She is absolute beauty! I was very tempted getting started on her, but my Ann Grant stopped me - I haven't been able to finish her for the longest time. I'll look forward to following your progress.
