Raindrops on Raspberries

This is a finish I've been meaning to show you for a while. I just kept putting off getting it blocked because it's not my most favorite thing to do. If you're a knitter, do you like blocking?

Raindrops on Roses (Ravelry Link here)
Yarn: Madelinetosh Sock
Colorway: Raspberry
Needles Size: 6 (I think)

Blocking the points didn't come out as well as I thought it would. Why, you ask?

Because I have a too tight bind off. I was running out of yarn...
I think I had 3 inches left!

Next time I block this project - which won't be any time soon, I'll go for a curvy look instead of trying to make points where there can't be any. Isn't the yarn delicious? I love this kind of semi-solid colorway. I love the pattern too and it's all thanks to JooLee (Ravelry link) who gifted me the pattern. A knitter I've never met by the way. The pattern is part of a sock kit club that won't be available to knitters outside the club until March 2012. I wasn't in the club and JooLee was. Thank you JooLee!

You may have noticed that I turned off any kind of comment moderation about six weeks ago. I did so after reading this post from Jody at Pleasant Home. I've had spam in the past - more than I would have expected - but I'm happy to report that I haven't had any problems since turning off comment moderation.

The year is coming to an end and I'm looking at my goal list for 2011 and thinking of 2012. I'll do a wrap up the year kind of post at the end of the year. I'm happy with what I accomplished on the list and won't feel a bit guilty at what I didn't. I'm hoping to get some things done yet too - one project to finish and one project to throw in the trash. Yep - trash! My stitches aren't all happy ones!

lovely finish Jackie - I HATE blocking and would prefer to skip it or pay someone to do it for me -urghhh - I was just thinking about the challenge list for 2011 and what I did not accomplish - better to focus on what I might have gotten done and enjoy the journey! Mel

Oh my gosh! I loooove the color! Beautiful finish! Bummer about almost running out of yarn -- glad you didn't. As for the comment moderation. Very interesting! I'm going to have to think about this too. Hmmmmm......

That yarn color is so fabulous. You did a beautiful job on this piece. I don't think anyone enjoys blocking, but looks to me like you at least can do great job of it!

Beautiful! I've never really made anything that required much blocking. Usually I just use a little blast of steam from the iron in the trouble spots and call it good enough.

I'll be curious to see how you make out without the comment moderation. I turned it off once and the spam was incredible!

The color is luscious.

I just re-read your paragraph about the comment moderation, so I could check out the link you provided and noticed that you said you did this 6 weeks ago and have had no spam at all? I may have to give it another try.

Oh my, that is just DELICIOUS Jackie! I don't knit but I understand blocking but I think it looks fine to me. It IS rather scary how little yarn you had left ~ whew!

I haven't had word verification on my comments for a long time but I do still moderate. I HAVE to moderate or I might miss seeing a comment!

However, I get too many comments to have every one emailed to me. I tried that once and was quickly overwhelmed!

I haven't had ANY spam comments since blogger changed the format and that is awesome.

My goodness, your shawl is beautiful. I love the color! Some day I'm going to try something like that. I printed the instructions for the comments and will check that I am set correctly.

The color is delicious looking. Love it!
I don't mind blocking when I finish a project because I feel like it's part of the process of being really finished. (And there is no doubt it makes it look 100 times better.) As far as doing it when bringing the scarves out of storage every winter or whatever.........BLEH. HATE IT. :(

wow, what a lovely shawl! i very much dislike blocking. it's like i've put all this time and effort into my knits, and then when i finally finish it feels like a big old slap in the face to be reminded that i'm not finished at all. or something like that.
