Retreat Weekend!

My retreat was last weekend. It was a BLAST! You'll just have to trust me because my camera battery was dead when I took it out to take the very first picture. I'm signed up for the next one in January. You can read about my previous one here. This time the General brought his wife with him and a 2 star General and his wife. They spent quite a bit of time with us. There were 27 Quilts of Valor that were donated to the base.

I haven't unpacked so I can't show you the blocks I made....and honestly there aren't a lot of them. There might have been a bit of socializing. I did all my chain piecing and trimming and all that stuff so I'm pretty ready to go on the quilt I'm making with Christmas fabrics.

I did have one stitching start and one stitching finish and it's the same project. Quick and easy to assemble!

How happy I am FOR you to have had a retreat weekend! I've got my deposit in for one on January 13-15, and actually hope we get snowed in! This is with a friendly group of quilters from our church. So glad you had yours and I hope it was a good break away from work and your routine.

I love that little hornbook, but the price of of it - ouch.
You are tempting me though with your finish.

I always appreciate your involvement in such a fine and patriotic endeavor as the Quilts of Valor. My husband is a soldier and now my oldest daughter is an Airman.

I had to look up what a "hornbook" was, never heard the term before. Yours is too cute! Glad your retreat was successful.

Very nice. Samplers are so much fun! Isn't it great to have designated time to craft and sew? We'll forgive you for no pictures. You were too busy stitching and that's whats important! :)

Sounds like a great get-away. Socializing is the best part of these things.

I'm so glad to read what a fantastic time you had!!! Yippie. I did hear it was tons of fun. :)

I absolutely love your stitch work here. A hornbook is it then? I've never heard of one and now I'm inspired, want to learn and make one for myself. Looking forward to seeing what other makings were seen.

You cross stitch!! Your hornbook is soooo fab! For some reason I thought you just quilted. Then I saw your hornbook.

Your blog is a great inspiration for me as a want to be quilter. I have fabric stash which I am great at accumulating, but not a quilt stitch to be seen .... LOL....

I enjoy the colors of the Christmas quilt you are creating. Cool!!

Happy Stitching!!
