Newbie Mistake Sends Me to the Frog Pond

There used to be a commercial on TV that promoted reading. It's tag line was "Reading is Fundamental". It's proven to me over and over again that we often learn life lessons early in childhood. Take this for example. I'm a newbie stitcher and I just missed this.

Look at the difference. In my mind, this outside work wasn't backstitching per se. It wasn't until I looked at a photo in blog land that I realized the error of my ways. I'm not frogging this now. I'll come back to it later.

Lesson Learned: Reading IS Fundamental.
Seriously.

There has been little knitting content here lately. That's because Quilting has taken over much of my free time. Plus I'm working on 2 big projects that don't show well in progress.

This weekend is QuiltFest and I'm looking forward to attending and maybe do a little retail therapy! My quilt show generally has more traditional leanings so I'm hoping to find some Jo Morton fabrics. I've just joined Jo's Little Women Club and do not have a red that I like for our project. I only need a 12" strip 1.5" wide. Still, it's a big deal to me - that red has to be perfect! If I don't find it this week, I'm going to have to move on with what I have which is more rust.

Are you on Facebook? Did you know that AccuQuilt gives away a GO Fabric Cutter every Friday on Facebook? Several blogging friends have won one! I want to be next but thought I'd share with all of you as I was talking to someone last week who didn't know. Hey, if I can't win one, I would rather a blogging friend get one. At least I can send you fabric to cut for me because you all know how much I dislike that part of the process!!

I hope everyone is having a great week! As always, Happy Stitches!

Akkkk! Oh know! I feel for you! It is coming along beautifully though. It is too bad you will have to frog it. Hold strong grasshopper!

I'm not really sure what the mistake is. It looks fab anyway. I wouldn't bother frogging it. x

Hard to tell just from a picture, but I don't think the backstitching looks that bad myself. I do love this piece!

Thanks for the Facebook tip -- I had no idea about that giveaway! I'd love to win one of those! Not like I do a lot of quilting these days, but maybe it would help in that department. lol!

Have fun at QuiltFest!

Newbie or oldbie, we all make those kinds of mistakes. But it looks fine to me so no worries.

Have fun on your hunt for the perfect red and thanks for the heads up on the contest.

On no! I still think it looks great though. ;o) A lot of people hate backstitching but I've always loved it. I love the finishing touch it gives to your work. I hope un-stitching is not too much of a pain for you.

Thanks for the heads up on AccuQuilt and facebook. ;o)

I hope you win a GO....they are wonderful! UGH about the mis-reading of the pattern. I hate when that happens.......

I make mistakes all the time, and I hate frogging, so if it's not obvious, I usually just let it go. I can't even tell where you went wrong!!!!

Thanks for the facebook tip, off to join in now~

Oh, the dreaded frog. Sorry he's arrived. You know I've looked at the picture and it looks fine to me. Are you sure you need to frog? This is looking so nice.

Must look different in person. The picture looks fine. I might make a judgment call here and just keep doing it "wrong".

I enter every Friday and I will keep crossing my fingers Jackie. Good luck to you!

I think the double thread does look better. But it would probably bother me too, knowing I didn't read the directions correctly.
I teach children to read carefully and often I find myself doing the opposite when reading a quilting pattern ...

That project is amazing, your stitching is perfect, so sorry for the small mistake, good luck taking out those ity bitty stitches.

I totally support your quest for the perfect red fabric for your project, I hope you found just what you were looking for and didn't settle!

I did not know that Go was giving away a cutter on Facebook, but so far I've avoided that sink hole of time, I may just have to give in.
