Best Laid Plans

Three weeks ago I decided to take a couple of weeks break from blogging and get some things done. You know what they say about the best laid plans....something will always happen to mess them up! Here's how it went down for me:

Week 1: I got sick. I can't sew, knit or stitch while I'm sick. I don't want to get the ick all over my projects.

Week 2: On Vacation. Still sick. Our dog, Cody, blew out his knee while we were gone so we came home several days early. Dad got notification he had doctors appts at Mayo scheduled for the following week. We spent a few days getting ready for my parents visit - we had to move some things out of my sewing room so we could set up a bed for my parents in the room.

Week 3: Parents here. Dad's Mayo visits and exploratory procedure. The good news is that during the exploratory procedure they were able to remove the area in question. The doctors in Orlando weren't able to do it. Great news as we all thought he was heading towards a very complicated surgery.

Fun, huh?

Here's Cody. He has to be on a leash or crated for 3 months during his recovery. Poor Pup. And somehow we're supposed to teach him how to quit jumping on the couch and bed. Not sure how that is going to happen. Here's a cheerful statistic the vet gave us - 50% of the dogs blow out their other knee within 12 months of injuring the first one.
His bandage has been removed. The staples come out next weekend.
I did manage to start stitching the latest LHN ornament.
I have not been reading blogs while I was on break. I will be reading and commenting this week. I'm looking forward to seeing what you've been up to!

Oh, good grief!!! I would have had to knit through all of that to stay slightly sane!

Poor Cody! Try teaching him to use ramps like Penny has. Takes a little work... we did it with Oscar, and he used the ramps like a champ.

Hope everything's going better.

Cody looks so miserable. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery. Congrats on getting some stitching done with all that has been keeping you so busy.

Oh, my goodness...sorry things have been so crazy by you and hoping they slow down soon. As far as what you have missed on blogs, I counted my UFO's and found I have 64...UGH...isn't that RIDICULOUS??? Hope your pup doesn't hurt that other knee and can prove the vet's statistic wrong!

Poor Jackie! What a busy time! I'm glad that your dad doesn't have to have that complicated surgery you were expecting. And poor Cody! My sister's dog Emily had a similar thing happen -- and they told my sister the same thing about the other leg going soon after. She's been giving Emily anti-arthritic meds, I think. Nice LHN ornie. I sure hope you get some sewing/stitching/knitting time soon! You deserve it!

Oh wow, where to start? Hope you are feeling much better and glad they were able to take care of your dad without a complicated surgery. What a blessing.

Hope Cody beats the odds and doesn't blow out the other knee. Maybe you could teach him to use the steps you can get for small dogs?

Love the ornament!

Jackie!! I'm so sorry to read your break did not go as planned! I hope getting caught up on your favorite blogs and catching a few peeks of the latest patterns and fabric at Market cheer you up!

That poor pup, I've never heard of such a thing! I worry about blowing my knees all the time, now I have to worry about the dog's knee's too?

I hope you have a better week this week.

Hi Jackie! I like your stitchery and the idea for the charm pack/moda maniac thing. I may have to pass that idea onto my boss at work. Sounds fun. Maybe some baby blankets, runners, quilts...man, that really could keep you busy! What are you going to do with ALL of those?!? Good luck! :)

Wow, you had a wild two weeks girlfirend. And poor Cody, I sure hope he heals up and has no more problems - and really, how do you teach a dog not to jump on furniture when they're welcome on it? If you figure that out please let us know. Now you need a vacation from your vacation. Take care and hope things calm down for you! Hugs your way.

It was great catching up with you on Saturday jackie - I am SO relieved things are going so well for your dad - that is a blessing for sure. Poor Cody - he looks so dejected - maybe Jean's right and the ramps would be a good idea as he will probably be weak on his knee even after recovery and might welcome a different alternative to jumping on and off. Your LHN ornie is SOOOO cute. Hope your return to work is not to stressful and guess what - you have a 3day coming right up to ease into the routine. Have yourself an EASY week - Mel

I'll bet you aren't planning any more "blog breaks" for awhile? lol "Life" does have a way of getting in the way of our plans, doesn't it? I hope you got a few moments of pleasure in your three weeks off.

Poor you and your poor pup. I do hope your next few weeks are more relaxing than your "break" was, Jackie... Glad to see you back :)

Jackie - I was wondering what you were up to. I'm sorry to hear that you had all that going on the past few weeks. Poor Cody and your poor Dad, although it sounds like everything should hopefully be better for him soon.

I hope that everything eases up for you and you can relax now!

Oh my gosh! It reminds me of a line from a VanZant song--"if you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plans". LOL I am so glad to hear that your dad's surgery went well. I'll keep him in my prayers that his recovery goes well. Your poor pup!! I hope he gets better soon, too!

Great news about your Dad, but I'm sorry to hear about little Cody. I know exactly what you mean about trying not to let them jump - it's almost impossible. Let's hope he beats the odds and the other one stays fine.
