This weekend both of my Local Quilt Shops had Tote Bag Sales. Everything you could stuff into the bag was either 30% or 25% off depending on which store you were in. EVERYTHING! I loaded up. I probably should have purchased some sewing machine feet but never made it over to the rack.
The fabric in the middle is my favorite. I bought a little bit extra but I probably should have gone for a LOT extra! It's going to be a backing fabric and the polka dot will be a binding fabric.
The L'Amour fabrics will go into a quilt for one of my nieces. I also bought a lot of background fabrics in cream and white. You can never have too much of those, right?
As you can tell, I also stocked up on some thread and Best Press. My current favorite thing to use is Mary Ellen's Best Press. I've always used it on my pieced quilts to smooth them out but now I'm using it before cutting and along every step of the way. It helps keep my fabric from getting wonky, my cuts are crisper and it's easier to match up points. I really think it's an undervalued tool.
It's yet another gray day here. I hope where ever you are that you're finding a ray of sunshine here and there....even if it's not from the sun! :)

Hey Jackie,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm so excited. I signed off on my patterns for printing, so they said they would be done by Monday. Finally!!! Next week I should have some fun giveaways so check back! Well, all your goodies look great. It's so nice to get a discount isn't it? I've tried the best press stuff before and didn't like it but I was trying to use it when pressing over my edges over freezer paper for applique and it was making the paper loose it's shape. Maybe it's not good for that, but I'm glad to know it's nice for other purposes. Maybe I'll have to give it another go. Take care! Amber Oh, and your stitchery below is looking SO good!!! It's beautiful!
If you haven't yet used that Aurifil 50-wt thread, you'll love it. I have that size in about 25 colors, and buy the jumbo cones of white, cream, and beige. Kinda pricey, but they literally last for years (5 to 6?). I use it for piecing and free-motion machine quilting. And I'm in complete agreement that you can never have enough neutrals; they're often overlooked when you go fabric shopping. You done good, girlfriend!
It looks like you really got some great goodies, and all with loads of money off, that's got to be good.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH what fun stuff you got!!!
Wow you did good!! Nice picks ,love the fabrics, you can never have too much. Hope this weathere is over soon we had rain all day yesterday and so dreary the day before. take care chat soon. HUgs, Marie
What a haul! That was an irresistible sale, I can see. Never heard of 'Best Press', but I plan to check it out now with that recommendation.
Very pretty fabrics, and it sounds like you had lots of fun!
It's another grey day here too. Hope yours is a good one!
Wow--you really stocked up, Jackie! I don't even quilt, but I love to buy fat quarters (I blame it on my mom--she was the queen of fabric hoarding!). Lucky you for finding a wonderful sale :)
Great sale!! Great stash! Love those fabrics on the left -- and Wiscasset. Sigh. You're the second or third or fourth person to mention best pressed to me. I think I'd better get me some!
Wow!! You did have fun..lol. Way to go. Gotta love a sale.
Weather is still not good here, but it is winter in Ontario..so it is expected.
Enjoy your goodies...Judi B.
Great shopping Jackie! Love the fabrics! I am using Mary Ellen's best press also and still on my first bottle. I was wondering which flavor is you favorite?
Happy sewing!
That sounds like so much fun! And I guess you did have a lot of fun (O: Love your purchases!
What a great load of stash! You must have had a great time. I think I'll check out Best Press, too. I only do a small amount of quilting projects, so I could use all the help I can get :)
That would be one great sale to participate in. I am very jealous!!! You made a great haul!
I love sales and up to 30% off is terrific! Your fabric choices are beautiful as well as that gorgeous thread. I love thread and there are so many wonderful choices out there now. I really like the charm pack fabric printed with "love' on it. It's hard to find fabrics with text, but they are my favorites!
Wow, what an awesome sale, Jackie! It looks like you really got some good buys there!
Wow, what a nice bag of stuff!!! Love the fabrics..will have to check out that best press stuff you mentioned. I've never used anything like that.
That is a lot of Best Press! I did't know it came in that size. The fabrics are lovely. What a great sale! Machine feet at 30% off, in my dreams. I would have been really jealous if you had made it over to the rack. Congrats on the things you scored! I will be looking forward to the fabulous projects you will be making with your bargains.
WOW! What a wonderful sale! Have fun.
Great stash haul, Jackie!
Hi there Jackie! How fun to do a sale like this. And it does sound like you had fun.
I love the Quaker stitching you showed in the last piece! Cannot wait to see more of it.
Hugs ~
Heidi
Very pretty fabrics and threads. I have used the Best Press, but after awhile the fragrance gives me a headache. Now I use a similar product I purchase at Walmart and it is much cheaper and not quite as "smelly." I think it is put out by Fabreez. Looking over your last few blocks I see so many pretties you are working on. Sometimes I think my piecing is getting worse rather than better.
Some of these I saw in person - the Wiscasset fabric is gorgeous - simply gorgeous! I did not realize you hit another great sale in the same day - you sly dog you!
Can't wait to see what comes out of all this lovliness - have fun with it! Mel
