Not Ready For Prime Time

We hate each other...Y Seams and I. I need a do over! And I just might take one - but not today! The U Tube video Candace at Squash House Quilts sent helped. I had the best results using the technique she found here. I clearly need remedial training. It's my third quilt and I don't feel bad that I need improvement. That's what improving your skills is all about.
We have one more class left in the Sweater Workshop class I'm taking. There are 4 of us in the weekend class and it's been a lot of fun. Here's where we are so far:
Here's a close up of the top part of the Sampler. Increases, decreases, some raised rows, and some fair isle. Lots of skills covered!
I've spent several hours preparing for my trip to Charlotte. The most time has been spent on figuring out what books and knitting to take. I'm taking my socks and a new project. Frankly the socks are boring me right now; maybe it's because they've been on the needles so long. I might cast on for a new pair though!

I'm taking my personal laptop so I can still continue to read all those wonderful blogs I love to read! And of course, check Ravelry!

I love the block and quilting is a learning experience every time....so I think it is awesome that we have the internet to help us improve.

I am using y seams in the sampler I am quilting too. I think they just take practice. I have not got to the y seam block yet. I am saving that moment. I have to say your block is great. Your sock is really good too. I have knitted for awhile know but not tried socks. I think taking classes are a great idea.

I love the colors you choose to work with. I'm sure with practice you will master the Y Seams. Your sweater sampler is a great way to learn techniques, too.

Have fun in Charlotte.

Y oh Y are Y seems so hard!?!?!?! I feel your frustration, but keep at it, and it'll get easier... or so that's what "they" keep telling me! I love the fabrics in the block, very pretty. I've always been intrigued by fair isle knitting, looks very difficult, and yours is beautiful!

The video does make those Y seams look easy. Actually I would do it in reverse, so I could see the seam better and stop the needle there. That might be harder though, I am not sure. Love the colors of the block, it is really pretty. The sweater class does sound like a lot of fun. Great keepsake swatch too.

I'm glad the video helped, Jackie - your first one looks really good! After a few more and some practice, you'll wonder why they were hard to begin with! I love the sampler - beautiful yarns! Hope you're having a great trip!
Cheers!

I am not friends with Y seams, either, but it looks like you *are* good friends with Fair Isle. Lovely!

The fabric combinations of your block is very inspiring! And oh, Jackie I can't believe what you get achieved with knitting. LOVELY!!! I hope you are enjoying yourself.

Congrats on the promotion! I love your dyed yarn - the colours are beautiful. As for Y seams - don't beat yourself up about them. A lot of quilters avoid them and you are just learning. Kudos for even trying them!
