Inspired!

No one is more surprised than me when I say I'm knitting again!  It's been 2 years since I've been so inclined.  A friend says it's the weather but I know better.  It's been too long for it to be a weather thing.  On Thursday I watched the video podcasts of the Suburban Stitcher's trip to Rhinebeck (Part 1 and Part 2).   I have no idea why I watched it, I've not watched or listened to a podcast ever.  Regardless of why, I was inspired to pick up the needles again.  I think it was the fun everyone was having.

This is my current "rustic" project.  It will be a warm and cozy curl up on the couch kind of shawl.

Friday I spent a couple of HOURS pouring over yarn choices on the internet and I the next day I did what any other newly inspired person does, I hit the submit button.  That was Saturday morning and today(Monday), these lovlies from Eat, Sleep, Knit arrived.  Yes, their customer service is that good.  I had a tracking number within 10 minutes of my order.  Three of these are for a specific project and the teal ones were to get free shipping.  Hey, you know you do it too!  :)

Saturday my husband and I went on a picnic on the river.  We usually have at least one picnic when we go on vacation as long as the weather allows.  Why not do it at home when the weather is nice?  It was a beautiful weekend and we enjoyed each others company.  I got a few rows done on the project above.  It was a sweet afternoon!

On Sunday, I just HAD to organize all my needles and project bags, etc.  I found my set of Addi Clicks  which  I was worried about because I hadn't seen them in a while.  For a bit I thought they might be in a "safe" place.   That was my weekend in a nutshell.  Work so far is looking to be manageable this week (last week wasn't).  I know I haven't been blogging a lot this year and I truly appreciate that you still visit and comment!  Wishing you all happy stitches!

I have taken up knitting too. But I am just a beginner, and need someone to teach me how to read patterns. So far just have made dish rags and a couple of scarves.

I just had a foray in the knitting store too and I can't wait to start something. And yes, I've bought extra yarn to save on the shipping costs! LOL Can't wait to see more of the shawl and I'll have to check out Eat, Sleep, Knit. With customer service like that you can't go wrong!

Your new knitting project looks great! I enjoy knitting, want to put a new project on the needles now that I've finished the last one. Have to remember the name of that store -- great new stash and wow on the service!

Me too! Just cast on for the first time since last year. It feels nice. Hubby and I went away for a night and I took three knitting books, needles and yarn and made my decision. I think that's the hardest part. Anyway, it's for my grand babe. Enjoy your shawl. It looks cozy!

I think knitting is a perfect winter activity, Jackie (although since you live in Florida, that may not be the case!). I'm sure it cools off down your way, too, though :) Lovely colors! And I'd love to be picnicking there, too--it is 41 degrees here right now!

Always a good feeling when your mojo returns for a past favorite craft. And with that project and your new yarns, it would be hard to keep that mojo suppressed!

Ah.. the Florida life..picnicking whenever!

Beautiful yarns, that shawl is going to be gorgeous! I'm a newbie to knitting, hoping this is my winter to improve with a few classes.

What a lovely day you and hubby must have had. The view is delightful. So happy that you've picked knitting up again and hopefully you will still make time for your other textile crafts too. It's hard to balance it all , isn't it.

Love the colours in your shawl! The other yarn looks like it's going to make some lovely projects too.

I love knitting. I knit more than I quilt...

Love the yarn color of your shawl! Yummy! Also love the colors of your future projects.

Looks like you and DH had a wonderful day and location for a picnic. Am afraid it is now too chilly up here for such.

What? Buy extra to get the free shipping? WHY I WOULD NEVER. *snort*
(But of course I do.)
Can't wait to see what you do with the new yarn!
Super great picnic spot. :)

Is that some MT Well Water I see in that photo ???? Beautiful color for the shawl - no yarn info for the knitters 1 demerit! but you get 10 adda girls for watching your first podcast and becoming inspired by Rhinebeck. LOL - who wouldn't be inspired by all that creativity. Can't wait to see what you create with that lovely pile of yarn from ESK. Enjoy Mel

Oh, so now I know why your blog name is Jackie Casts On! I had no idea! Good for you to pick up knitting again. I've done it lots before myself, but don't want to take the time away from quilting to return to it. Happy for you to be enjoying it, and the nice riverside get-away time with Greg.
