Meet Sammy!

In December we welcomed a new member to our family.  My husband was doing a home visit and ran into this stray cat.  He said a few words and this cat just rolled over on his back.  Next thing you know, he's living with us.  Turns out he'd been a stray for over a year - his previous owners moved out of the apartment complex and left him.  We've named him Sammy but he responds best to Kitty Kat.

The pups and he made peace, though I don't think we'll ever find them curled up together.  I've waited 6 months to post about this because we weren't sure we were going to keep him due to my allergies.  Some days are worse than others and the allergies aren't all due to him. I would never describe myself as a "cat person" but this guy has stolen my heart!

I'm definitely not a cat person either, but I'm glad enough for you to have this fellow in your life when he makes you happy. Enjoy him.

Honestly, how can people do that? He looks gorgeous and is lucky to have found you to adopt him.

Those among us that adopt critters others have cast off, well, I have the utmost respect for :)
And umm, Jackie, it sounds like Kitty Kat is one intelligent feline ("a few kind words from your hubby & he rolled over...") it seems to me that he had chosen y'all ;)
Wishing you well with your allergies Jackie, and I know your love for Sammy will truly deepen. I just adore the love shining out from his face!

Good for Sammy! What a terrible thing to do to a pet!! Six months is a long time to wait to post. Good for you all.

Oh Jackie, Sammy is adorable. I'm glad you are able to keep him and give him a good home. I can't believe people will just leave animals behind, it's so sad. I love his little grey patch under his mouth. As for the pups, give them time, you might find them cuddling or at least sleeping on the same couch one day.

He's so cute!! I've always said a few minutes either way and things could have been different. I guess it was meant to be. He looks happy.

What a lovely pic! So glad Sammy is settling in well. My daughter is allergic to cats so I know how miserable it can make you feel.

Aww what a handsome boy. I love his grey chin beard.
Glad he is settling with you.

Hi Jackie,

Good for you for taking this guy in. He has the same coloring as my #1 cat, Smudge - named for the little gray patch of gray on his white chin.

I see his left ear has been clipped. That means at some point he was trapped as a stray and neutered, then released. Evidently he took up residence with a crappy neighbor who decided they didn't want to keep him when they moved. I'm glad he's safe now!

What a sweet, sweet face. I would say by his ear that someone thought he was a stray and took him in to be neutered.

He looks like a very gentle kitty.

I can understand why you wanted to keep him in spite of your allergies.
