Thankful and Fortunate

Today in the United States, we celebrate Memorial Day. We celebrate those who have served, those who came back and those who didn't. The words Thank You aren't by any means sufficient.

Due to Tropical Storm Beryl, which made landfall nearby, we've had a quiet weekend inside due to the heavy rain and high winds. We watched a couple of movies and I sewed a bit when I felt comfortable having my sewing machine plugged in. We're fortunate that we're not experiencing the flooding or the power outages that some of the city (currently 22,000) is experiencing. We did have one downed tree limb but it wasn't one that caused any damage. We've been very lucky.

Here is what I accomplished this weekend - seven Cotton Club blocks. As you know, my mojo has been hard to raise lately - I think work is getting most of me these days. This weekend, I enjoyed the time I spent at the sewing machine. It felt good!

I'm now all caught up and even have this months blocks completed! It's been important to me to stay up to date on these blocks because they take so much time. They're only 5.5". I can't see sitting down and making all 40 something of them one after another.

For those of you stitching Ann Dale, did you see this post? Or this progress post from Lanie? Both have made me feel completely comfortable about stitching Ann as charted. Lanie made a change in the over one box but has otherwise stitched as originally charted making a few color changes. Both are absolutely beautiful! Expect to see a progress pic in the next couple of weeks.

Wishing you happy stitches!

I love how fun your Cotton Club blocks look. Great to hear the storm didn't do any damage and that you had a chance to sew.

I'm so glad Beryl is treating you well. Tropical storms can be so scary and damaging. Did you see Melody's post? Yikes! I love your blocks -- all are sooo pretty! Good for you for keeping up too! That's interesting about Ann Dale too. So this person who finished it just stitched it as charted? Who is noticing the errors and how are they noticing them? I'm glad you're happy to stitch as charted!

Jackie, I'm so glad to hear you escaped the worst of it from TS Beryl. we had plenty of wind and humidity from it, even all the way in Tampa.

Looks like you were able to put your rainy day to good use! Your Cotton Club blocks look great.

I'm loving your CC blocks. I am really far behind - only have two of the past two months done so six more to go. I need to get moving because the other ones will be here before I know it.

Glad that you escaped the worst of the storm. It seems like they're starting earlier this year.

Glad you didn't have major problems from Beryl. Your Cotton Club blocks look terrific. My sewing mojo seems to have disappeared and I can't blame it on work....just can't get myself going.

I'm so glad to know that Beryl didn't affect you, but sorry for those thousands of people who have been without. It's our first tropical storm ever, and we've been in Florida for only one week! What a welcome! (smile) It's raining now, as I write this comment.

Your blocks are amazing Jackie - Gorgeous. I really like how they are coming out and the colors are FAB. Thank you for sharing Lanie's progress post on Ann. I had not seen her blog before, I can't remember, so that means no I hadn't lol. I've been working on Ann and another stitching project lately. I post Ann soon enough. I am wishing for you that your muse of mojo stitching keeps present with you:)))

Ahhh, Jackie, these blocks looks just fantastic. I'm always amazed about how much the colour and fabric choices determine the way a block looks like.
