Out of Jail!

In late May while we were on vacation, Cody tore his ACL so we turned around and came home so he could have surgery. Since then he's been on a leash or in his crate. He's managed that much better than Greg and I have. It wasn't until we saw how much it hurt him to even be on the leash that we realized we needed to comply 100% with the vets instructions and give him a lot of crate time. In the last 2 weeks, he was deemed fit enough to be off leash. He has now resumed his rightful place on my new couch!

Kenzie maintains her rightful place on Greg's back. He's napping and so is she!

Both dogs have gotten so shaggy and are hopefully being groomed this week. I just didn't feel comfortable taking Cody to the groomers while he was on restricted activity. Since he has a little anxiety when he's separated from Kenzie, she didn't go either.

Cody and Kenzie are truly part of our family and we're all glad to have his surgery and recovery behind us. We've noticed he's not quite as active and I'm hoping that he'll get stronger over time. Hopefully our next vacation will go as planned!

Oh wow, I know that was a chore keeping him on restricted activity...I am sure it is nice having your house back to normal.

Yay for out of jail! Our girl had a slipped disc about 5 years ago and every now and then it "acts up" but she is otherwise fine. And as a thirteen-year-old golden retriever that's saying something!

Poor puppy - I know that must have been hard to keep him in the crate most of the time.

Gosh, so glad little Cody is okay. When Mabel was just a tiny puppy we nearly lost her. Three Barium treatments later (don't get me started on the "output" caused by the barium) she improved pretty much on her own. It had to do with her liver not being able to handle fat properly. She still has a very delicate tummy, but thank goodness we've never had a repeat of the problem. Give the two sweeties a pat from me, Michele

Poor Cody! At least he is feeling a bit better and can hang out on the couch were he belongs.

I hear you on your lovely dogs. It's so true how our pets are part of the family. Poor Cody, and poor you for missing vacation. Glad he's better -- it does look like he and Kenzie need haircuts. :D

Oh such cute pups! I hate it when we have to restrict our dogs, they just don't understand. I'm glad Cody's doing better.

Aww...poor little guy. I'm glad he's feeling better. My sister's Bernese Mountain dog is facing ACL surgery, too! Can't imagine keeping that giant dog in a crate for so long...

That would be so hard seeing your friend stuck in a crate all the time. I'm glad you all survived it! Hugs for Cody!

Your block inspired me! I got the Quilting Arts gifts mag 2010-2011, and I am staring at my much ignored sewing machine. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love them both. I like Cody, but I can see that Kenzie is daddy's little girl.
Very cute!
