The Dog Days of Summer...

...and I'm doing a lot of reading. Either it's so hot, I'm drained from the heat, or just feeling BLEH about doing much of anything else. I'm a huge reader - if I don't read each day I'm probably seriously ill.

This Mortal Instruments series is not something I'd normally read. Definitely not my genre. But one of my knitty friends put them in my hands and after a few months, I started with the first book. I was hooked within just a few pages.

What are you doing these days?

Jackie, Jackie..me too. I'm a HUGE bookworm, and there is rarely EVER a night that goes by that I don't curl up with my book. I will have to look further into that book. I'm always on the lookout for a good one, trying to ease out of my normal genre here and there. I'm sure the autumn winds will blow your doldrums out before too long. :)

Oh Jackie..I am the same..just done in with the heat and humidity. It is all I can do to feed the horses and head back inside to the A/C comfort. Looks like we have a few days of cooler weather coming..and boy am I happy for that.
Keep cool..enjoy your books.

I'm reading the second in a trilogy by Phillipa Gregory. It is the Wideacre series. The first is Wideacre, the second is The Favored Child and I forget the name of the third. Pretty good, but twisted!!!!
I'm mostly playing with grands, though.

I'm doing more reading than knitting these days. But my knitting is all packed for vacation.

Looking at the cover, I don't think it would be my genre. But, it is always fun to discover something new.
I'm not doing that much lately. DH and DD are home, so the days are filled in their own special ways. Today we are finally having a nice sunny day again, so I think I will work in the garden.
Enjoy your reading!
PS: Do you have summer vacation yet?

I'm doing more reading this summer myself. Currently reading "The Book Thief".

So that Florida sun penetrated the air conditioning after all!

I haven't read a book in ages. I don't even remember what the last book I read was! Probably something by Danielle Steel. I seem to always be stitching when I get sat down on and evening.

I will have to check into this. I just started the Millenium series by Stieg Larsson. It is so good!

Thanks for the book recommendation!

I have been reading more than crafting this summer too. Let's blame it on the heat.

I used to read daily but just don't feel it anymore. I start a book and my mind just goes blank and I don't get absorbed in the story no matter how good the book is.

I too have to read every day!

The great thing is though that I've found my sewing mojo again! Yippee. So yesterday I spent some time making some coasters and I have big plans for today.

I don't half as much as I used too. I don't know why and I do miss it so I need to rectify that!

I'm stitching away these days, I seem to have got over my July slump!

Enjoy your weekend and hope that heat breaks soon!

Ah! I love the summer with a little bit of down-time for reading! With the kiddos all home, my days are a lot of driving teens to and from summer jobs. But also some lovely, quieter times. Blueberry picking, pool, visits from friends. And I was lucky enough yesterday to catch up with three friends via phone or computer that I haven't chatted with in a while. Have fun reading!

I love to read too. I read that series as well (a friend recommended it) and I really liked it even though it wasn't my type of book either. What kinds of books do you usually like to read?

I love to read too! Every night before I go to sleep. It's so relaxing. I"ve started the Harry Potter series again (the 2nd time this summer). This will make the 8th time I've read them. I know...I'm nuts! But, I have read some other books too - Airframe (Michael Crighton) & Dragons (Michael Connelly) just recently. Both were good, just not long enough!

I am reading a lot too especially before going to bed and hubby is away. Thus another expensive hobby of mine besides stitching. Have to order it from bol.com as the library here(on the island) doesn't change their english books often-i think once a year and very very limited!

Happy weekend!!

It's too hot. I don't like shopping in the heat. The garden is unbearable. Perfect weather for stitching and reading at home.

My DD works in a bookstore so she is forever bringing home books to read. She found this trilogy on sale in the used section and I have read them all. Lots of fun.

I'm an avid reader like you, and I always read a book. But it's particularly in the summer that I read more than I stitch. It might be the heat or quite simply the fact that I can sit in the garden for reading. I love to read thrillers and mystery books but also most other genres. Besides fantasy and vampire books, lol.
At the moment I'm enjoying my summer vacation and I'm reading, stitching and quilting all day long. And cleaning the house a little bit.

Reading, stitching and quilting. I switch back and forth. But this weekend, I am reading a book that is so exciting that it is hard to make my choice. It is called Dark Harvest which is a suspense novel about Ohio Amish and hate crimes committed against them. It is so good.
