Another Block on the Wall

This block is one we worked on earlier in the year. The circular attachment was the specialty "foot". Using it, you can sew in a perfect circle. The corner pieces are 4 rows of decorative stitches sewn in a circle and then cut into fourths. A fifth line of decorative stitches is then used to applique the corner piece down. Thankfully, I was able to figure out a way to do this without purchasing the attachment as I didn't think I'd use it again. My pencil lines are visible a bit but will come out in the wash. All in all, this came out much better than I expected.
Here is the finished block. I'm glad this one is done!
I worked on the other unfinished blocks too. It didn't go well. I broke a button for one of them. I didn't sew on the other 11 buttons in case I can't find a matching button. On another block, I'm just a wee bit short some fabric. I finally got the message and went on to organize my patterns and do some straightening in my sewing room. There is always something to clean up, isn't there?

It's turning out to be a very challenging week at work and I'm looking forward to the upcoming holiday weekend. We're off on Monday and the extra day is going to be fantastic!

That really turned out well. You must have a very steady hand to get those arcs so perfect. Congrats on doing it without the fancy attachment!

Thank you for blogging about that Bernina circle maker thingy. I purchased one a few years ago and still haven't used it. Besides applique, as you did so beautifully, is there any other use for the gadget? Can you use it as a guide for machine quilting circles?

I've been finding it difficult to stay in my sewing room as I have sewing to do that I do not enjoy. So cleaning up is something to do to put off sewing! Not all bad, I guess.

Enjoy your Monday off work. Happy Independence Day!

Jackie - that block is wonderful and I just love the different stitches. Is this a class through where you bought your sewing machine. I wish that I had gotten classes with mine, but it never worked our where I could go them. I think that your work is just beautiful.

You did a fantastic job on the block! Thanks for showing another application for using the circular attachment. I like how your corners look, even without using the attachment. Wishing you a fun and relaxing holiday weekend.

Oh wow, this is a very beautiful block. Whenever I get to your blog I feel such a strong temptation to go to my sewing machine and work on one of my unfinished pieces. Your blog is such an inspiration!

Darling block, Jackie! I have the circle attachment, too! It's fun for small pieces, but I find it harder to work with on a large piece!
Cheers!

Very beautiful block, Jackie. You did it very well without using that foot (as I understood?). What is that foot called? Is it especially for doing circles?

Oooh that is pretty and who knew there was a foot to let you do perfect circles (quite clueless when it comes to "sewing")
