Cast On A Long and Some Stash

I hope each of you had a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend. Please remember those who have served our country, who are serving our country, as well as their families. We are fortunate to have the freedoms that we do because of their service.

Last weekend was Midnight Knit at my LYS. Several of us decided have a Cast On Along for Traveling Woman. Generally in knitting we have a Knit a Long, in Stitching a Stitch a Long - you get it. Frankly, I don't join them because I know I could not keep up. So we decided to just cast on and if you finish, great. If you don't, that's good too. What made this even simpler is that the cast on was just 3 stitches!
The shop was PACKED! There were probably 30 people there for almost the entire evening. These pictures were taken after 10pm.
Needless to say, we all had a blast! Here is a picture of my project during the night. About 20 of us cast on for Traveling Woman. Can you believe that 2 (that I know for sure) have been finished and I'm pretty sure there is a 3rd (at least) completed.
While we were on vacation for those few days I managed to visit 3 quilts stores. Little Quilts in Marietta, GA, Log Cabin Patchworks in Hiawassee, GA and Bless My Stitches in Murphy, NC. Sadly Log Cabin Patchworks will be closing due to retirement. All shops are really nice but I must say that I LOVED Little Quilts. Loved it!

Here's what I bought at the 3 shops. I can't remember what I purchased where.
Little Quilts had a top made of Josephine's Sampler. Scrumptious!
I'm in a pattern mood. A couple of these patterns are very charm pack friendly.
Fabric wise, I just purchased these 3 yards and the yard above.
Happy Stitches!

Wow Jackie, that's a lot of people in the shop. Looks like fun! Love the quilt stash you got. Does that tote pattern happen to be charm party? I have the charm party tote pattern and would love to do a SAL, subtle hint ;)

I really like the green fabric! I use to live in Marietta GA. and we drove by there yesterday. We went to Toccoa Falls. I can't wait to see how the knit along goes. As for what I'm knitting next, I am doing the knit along with the group Storied Yarns, Percy Jackson Series. I wont know till I get my yarn and pattern. It is a surprize!

That looks like so much fun. Of course, it was way past my bedtime... I would have laid my head on the table and fallen asleep. Luckily, you have much more energy!

And what great vacation finds!

What a fun three days! I love your "Traveling Woman." You have such nice and even stitches. Knitters are just as much fun as quilters, I've found. We all get excited about our craft!!

I don't understand the cast on three stitches. I have done some knitting, but casting on is just putting the starting row on the needle, right? Looks like fun, but what can you do with just three stitches on a needle?

Great purchases - I see quite a few in there that I wish would visit my sewing room.

Must have been a fun evening with all the knitting ladies. Looks really cool!
You bought some great things at the quilt shops. I'm all about quilting patterns too at the moment. I bought two books with patterns that use jelly rolls, now it's just the question where to buy those jelly rolls. But I found a shop in UK that carries the ones I want. And in your picture I can recognize the bag pattern that I ordered a couple of days ago after finding it in a German online shop.

Jackie I missed this awesome post - I did not realize you visited Little Quilts - obviously we have NOT been spending enough time together LOL ! It was fun seeing the photos from midnight knit - I wish I could have stayed but Henri had a long drive home and wanted to do dinner. Maybe next month! Mel
