I finished another block in my $5 quilt this past weekend. I did the brown portion of this block first and it was off slightly so it's a bit wavy. I starched the heck out of it and that helped some. Don't you just love starch? I certainly do!
Mary in New York City had a contest on her blog and I won! I won The Knitters Book of Wool which is a great resource and it has some wonderful knitting patterns in it. I'm going to learn a lot more about yarn from this book.
Mary also sent 2 skeins of this wonderful Italian yarn which I've never seen before. The colors are classic "me" - ones that I wear a lot. I'm not sure if this is going to become socks or a scarf.
Mary, thank you so much!

I found a miscount on my Quakers and Quilt. I found it after I took out about 30 stitches and then realized the mistake was in the motif below. UGH! I haven't ripped that out yet. I did give SERIOUS thought to leaving it there but I thought it would take me off track elsewhere. So out it comes...but not tonight. I'm going to leave it for another day.

Nice quilt block! Such a bummer about the motif being off on your Quakers and Quilts. :( And especially after you frogged a different one. Sigh. Hope the frogging isn't too painful. Love the yarn, and congrats on the book!

I love your block and it doesn't look wavy to me at all. That is very pretty-colored yarn, too!

Looks flat to me. I never thought about using starch to help with that problem. Nice tip.

Congrats on your winnings and happy frogging! ;-)

So sorry about the miscount.....ugh, made me glad I didn't knit...until I saw that beautiful pink yarn....ooh lala, mittens and sockies......I think that is what that yarn wants to be. Congratulations on winning.

Your quilt block looks like a million bucks...not $5!

Sorry to hear about your visit from the frog, Jackie... I always find is unbelievable how quickly the floss comes out after it has taken me so long to actually stitch it. Good luck :)

Your block is beautiful and looks great to me!

Great quilt block! and starching does help! Congrats on the win!!! Enjoy the book and the yarn (add to stash!) Try not to think about the back-tracking in stitching. It happens! ugh!

Love the block! I think I need to pick up some starch. I have a tendency to get a bit wonky every once in awhile.

Jackie I forgot to say how BEAUTIFUL your Q&Q is looking - yep it's best to bite the bullet and pull out instead of facing the frog later. Congrats on winning the prize - lovely book - I've been coveting it myself and your block looks great. Mel

Great job on the block! Bummer about the frogging--I've done that too many times--both frogging AND frogging the wrong thing! Blergh. Congrats on the win and yarn!
