A Finish and a New Beginning!

It's not been a productive week or weekend but I did manage to finally finish sewing down the binding on this table runner. It has sat for weeks months waiting for this final bit of attention. I'm glad it's completed and soon to be hanging up waiting for the 2010 fall season. I'm also glad to get to cross this off my WIP list! Whoot!
Pattern: Jingle Jolly Runner by The Happy Zombie
Fabric: Gobble Gobble by Sandy Gervais for Moda

I've started my classes on the Knit to Fit top down raglan sweater. Now I don't begin to think that taking a pattern out of a stitch dictionary and putting it into a project is designing. What it is though is HARD. I pulled out my trusty Treasury of Knitting Patterns by Barbara G. Walker and tried to figure out a motif to go along the button band. My challenge is that I'm using dark yarn and I don't want it to be too big or too small (yes, I'm Goldilocks, I'd like it to be just right). I think I finally figured it out after many experiments. Then I had to restart as my neckline was coming out a bit small and I wanted to change its shape. For this class, you take your measurements so you'll end up with a sweater that is to fit you well. Let's hope that is the case for me!
My manager is on vacation this week so it's going to be hectic/crazy/insane. Combine that with a case of what appears to be a lack of interest in just about anything and I'm guessing there won't be much in the way of fun stuff this week. The only thing that interests me right now is reading. I'm going to go with the flow because I'm the kind of girl that doesn't like to force things. I hope you've had a good weekend. Happy Stitches!

I really like your fall runner. I think I have a jelly roll of "gobble gobble"....have to figure out a project for that for the fall. Good luck with your sweater. I am not a knitter so I am clueless about all that stuff!

Congratulations on your finish! It looks great! I'm anxious to watch your sweater progress...I've never knitted anything that involved.

Your table runner is beautiful Jackie, congrats on the finish. I need to get my butt in gear and do something - anything, and yet spring fever has hit, the sun is out the temp is in the 60's and it's just hard to be inside and concentrate. Hope your week isn't to stressful or hectic. Have a good week and I'll be thinking about ya. Hugs

I love the table runner, the design and the colors are just lovely. I can't wait to see the progress on the sweater. I have always wanted to knit a sweater but need to learn to knit better first. You are making great progress. Have a great week at work.

Gorgeous finish! You really do beautiful quilting.

Working on dark yarn is harder anyway. I'm sure you'll figure it out and come up with something good.

I love your finish! And your new sweater too! I think putting a pattern to a sweater is designing -- more than I could do anyway! :D I hear you on the just reading this week. Sounds like you'll be busy at work which usually leads to just reading or relaxing at home. Good idea to go with the flow!

Love that table runner. It's been a beautiful weekend here in NC, temps were in the 60's today. Have a great week and I hope it's not to stressful for you.

Reading is good too! Love the runner. It is designing a sweater when you choose a stitch and figure out the math. At least I think it is designing.

I love that runner! I did it in Christmas fabrics when she posted it!

I have weeks like that when I don't feel like doing anything. I told my hubby a few weeks ago that my "give a damn" was busted!

Jackie your runner is wonderful - Love how it turned out. I hope you can kick off your case of the blahs but sometimes it's just like that and why fight it - just sit and read and try and have restful pleasant evenings while you are shouldering the burden of your boss being off this week. Hope to see you later this week - mel

Your table runner is really pretty. Perfect for autumn or colors in your home, whichever works.

Love your attitude.... go with the flow. I agree that it's important to do what feels right. So what are you reading? Should I add it to my must-read list?

OHH! gorgeous table runner. It is good to get something done and binding is just plain boring, but has to be done. Good luck with the new knitting project. From the top down has it's positive sides.

Love your table runner. How great to have it ready in plenty of time for the season it is intended.

Good luck on your sweater. Sounds like a really informative class. Instead of learning one sweater, you will learn what you need to know to make any top down sweater you want! Can't wait to see your progress.

BTW, whatcha reading?

I dont know how I missed this post last week but it caught my eye when I read this week's post. I LOVE that fall table runner. I used Gobble Gobble on my first Schnibble, Winter White I think, and have some fabric leftover. What a perfect use for those fabrics. I'm usually not a bit into table runners and have never made one, but this one really appeals to me!

I'm glad you got it done, so you could blog about it! Now I have 6 months to make one!
