Sometimes I Actually Finish Something!

Here's my finished project from my weekend class! It's small but it's DONE! I think I'm going to use it for my double pointed knitting needles. It would also be a good makeup case, notions bag, etc. It's very versatile. Make it a bit longer and you could store a curling iron in it. I find classes very rewarding and will continue to take them.
Here is a close up of the button I sewed on in seconds with my machine.
Progress on Little House Neighborhood has been slow. I did decide to stitch the fence in the window color but I'm still figuring out a darker color for the chimney. I really didn't want to show my progress as my linen is so wrinkled. I've not stitched on a frame yet. Pictures I've seen of projects on frames always show a crisp unwrinkled linen. The wrinkles make this look messy. If you stitch, do you use a frame? Do you find them easy to use? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
G & I will be taking a few days away for ourselves. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it. Work has been ramped up busy the past couple of months and we've both been busy. My knitting and stitching are ready to go as are several books (including trail books) and my hiking shoes. It's going to be a welcomed break from the hustle and bustle of our daily life! Can't wait!

Great finish! That bag is so cute!

I use frames for all my needlework...and I have various size rods so I can accomodate many sizes. I wouldn't use anything else. I have used Q-snaps, hoops, and even tried holding the fabric...but nothing beats my frames. I purchased mine from American Dream Products, and they have stands for them as well. A needleworker's dream for sure!! Here is their website, if you want to give them a look-see! http://www.adp-usa.com/page9523.asp

Hope you enjoy your trip! Until later...

Jackie - you know I mainly stitch in hand so I never worry about the wrinkles - I sometimes use a small wooden hoop if I am stitching on 40ct linen because it helps open the holes so I can see it better. I have used qsnaps and I have every roller, gripper, tack type frame known to man, I do mostly use a frame if I do canvas work but not always. I have the System 4 Needlework travel frame, a K's Creation floor frame that is wood and a metal one for my hooking base as well as a needlepoint arm for it - I could let you borrow that one any time to try - Just let me know - I guess you are already gliding down the highways and biways towards mountain bliss. Enjoy! Mel

Your blue bag is just lovely! You did a wonderful job! I do use a frame when I stitch, so it avoids the wrinkles, but I know some people who don't.
Great job!

What a great needle case. It's nice to actually MAKE something while you're learning all those new feet and stitches, isn't it?! - Cindi
