A Bunch of Firsts

Saturday I had a "Quick Start" class at my Bernina dealer. The class is designed to show us some of the feet that come with the Bernina and what they do. Here's the class from my viewpoint. It was a 5.5 hour class and I did a lot of things for the very first time.
I used my walking foot with the guide for the first time.
I put in a zipper for the first time that didn't look like crap. It actually works too. Bonus!!!
I used a decorative stitch on my new machine for the first time.
Top stitching! Easier than it looks!
Buttonholes! This was in practice fabric. Pretty painless and I can get the same size over and over again without stress. My machine will actually sew on buttons too! In seconds!
Ok...buttonholes aren't my favorite. But I'll do them again and I'll use the skills I learned in this class over and over again. The best part of the class is that I actually ended up with a finished project. Yes, I finished something!!! Pictures coming later in the week when I have pics!

Doesn't feel good to have something to show everyone after a class! Have fun with your new machine.

Wow, Jackie ~ your machine can definitely do a lot and it even works (O: How happy you must be.
I again send you a mail, but it was sent back again. I wrote such a nice story about the costs of our fabrics here *LOL* I'll try to mail it again today and see what happens.
Have a lovely day!

I love to learn new things. It's harder now than it used to be. It's good for the brain to exercise it, I've heard. LOL Wonderful machine! Enjoy it!

How fun! I need to replace a zipper and I'm nervous about doing it. I may try it now! Sounds like a fun (and very useful) class!

Thanks for such a nice comment on my blog!

I have been wanting a Bernina for years...I still have to work on a basic model Singer...but, she gets the job done! If I actually did more sewing I could probably get away with the cost of a Bernina! LOL!

Sounds like you had a great class though and learned a ton of new stuff...congratulations!

Which LHN pattern are you working on? I love Diane's patterns...have you seen her new one. "The Library" ...it is outstanding.

Until later...
HAPPY STITCHIN'

WOW - how wonderful the Bernina dealer does all these classes - I know it was intensive to sit for that long but it sounds like it was well worth the time. Enjoy! Mel

This class reminds me of the 'training' I had to do when I bought my Aurora 440, you know how they won't validate the warranty till you do so ;o) I so enjoyed it, it was also where I learned to quilt, on a Bernina 6 week course after buying my machine. Never regretted buying it. Your work looks fabulous, a very productive class.
