Fall Inspired

I'm now a Moda Maniac! Calico Station gives every Moda Maniac one of every charm pack that comes in. On my first night, Martha loaded me up! It was a fun time, everyone shared their projects and we heard about upcoming events. This was my first event at this LQS and I felt very welcomed. This LQS is the Bernina dealer I bought my machine from. I think it's as important for me to work on developing a relationship with them as it is for them to build one with me.
So I have to do something with these charm packs! First up, Gobble Gobble. It just screams fall. And in Florida, this is probably as close as I'm going to get to fall right now. It's still in the 90's here and the A/C is still running it's marathon. I picked up some extra pieces of yardage and will start working on this soon.
I haven't shown you my QuiltFest purchase. A thimble from TJ Lane! I have been sewing my binding bare fingered and needless to say, that had gotten a bit painful. My sewing finger has a bump on the side of it due to gripping my pencil in school. It's never gone away and my finger is a little crooked. Thankfully, there is a thimble made just for me!
Because of the way it's shaped the bump doesn't get in the way and it still stays on. It's silver, came with a polishing cloth and was then custom fit to my finger. Isn't it pretty?
The 4 of us spent a lovely day in Orlando yesterday with my parents celebrating their 50th anniversary. My brother flew in with his family and my sister was there as well. We had family photos taken, celebrated my nieces birthday and then went out to a Brazilian restaurant for dinner. It's rare that all of us are together at the same time so it was wonderful!

Happy Stitches!

How terrific to have such a nice family day. I'm sure that will be a treasured memory for years to come. Your thimble is very nice....I've never been able to adjust to wearing a thimble. *sigh* AND...how lucky are YOU to live where a store gives you charm packs of Moda!!! WOO-HOO.....don't I wish I lived near a story like THAT. You are right about building a relationship with your machine dealer. Here we have very few machine dealers....you have to go VERY far to find others....so I think that is why they don't show much customer service....they bank on the fact that we are STUCK and won't go 100 miles or more to get to another dealer.

Love those new moda charms and really look forward to see what you will make with the gobble gobble range. Warm colors!
Wow, that thimble looks very fancy! Funny, that it even works so well. It looks like a piece of jewelry.
Glad you had such a wonderful time with your family all together for your parent's 50th anniversary.
Have a lovely week and lots of fun with those fabrics!!!

Your thimble is a work of art. I get sore fingers too but just can't seem to find one that I am comfortable wearing.

Your moda charm packs look so fun. I am sure you will create something breathtaking. The thimble is really great. A 'work of art' as mentioned above. Congrats on your parent's 50th anniversary. It was so nice your whole family could be together to celebrate such a lovely achievement.

I love moda charm packs too. I made some disappearing nine patches with a couple of mine. The thimble is lovely. I hope that I can give my parents a party for their fifty anniversary in a few years. It is so special!!

Hi Jackie,

What a beautiful thimble you found. I've never seen anything quite like it. I love the quilt you featured in your last post, very simple and stunning. Hope you are well.

Love your thimble, wish I could adjust to using one. Those Moda packs are the best, lucky gal to get them like that. So happy you found a shop that you like and got your machine from, a good working relationship is so important for both parties. You do so well at the knitting and the quilting too.Have a grand week. Oh yes glad you all got together for your folks anniversary and you got to spend time with the little girls too. Hugs, Marie

Oooo...I have thimble envy! I've fondled these at quilt shows, but that's as close to one that I've ever gotten. I'll be anxious to hear how you like it after you have used it awhile.

I can't wait to hear how you like that thimble. I've thought several times about buying one similar to it, but just can't quite bring myself to spend that much money on something I might not like. (And I've gone through so many thimbles that I hated, that I've grown very skeptical!)

What a lovely thimble. Neat! I love your really cool fabrics, too. Those rock!

BTW, the RealFeel here in town today was 104' ~ seriously.

I love the look of that thimble. I have just purchased two thimbles this week from the thimble lady. One is cone shaped and I believe to be popular, and the other an old fashion silver one, not as ornate as yours, but I will post about it soon.

I have a thimble almost identical to that one and I love it dearly. I have very long nail beds and thimbles always irritated my cuticle. This one goes down below my nail bed making it much more comfortable.

Hi Jackie - isn't Moda just addictive? You're going to have so much fun! I LOVE my TJ Lane thimble - don't know what I would do without it!
Cheers!
